The Town Council were made aware of the plight of Mr Harol Williams, 97 years of age, who is a patient at Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli.
Harold, a long-serving member of Burry Port Male Voice Choir (54 years) was upset at being unable to attend the Remembrance Service in Burry Port, as he has usually done.
With the agreement of the ward Sister, we took the essence of Remembrance to him.
The Mayor and his consort (Cllr Robert John and his wife Angela), together with Mr Steve Seabourne of Burry Port Royal British legion and Choir members, visited him and presented him with poppies, etc.
Harold is a native of Pwll, as are the Mayor and his consort, and Harold shared some memories of the village.
One poigniant war-time memory was that of him being in the same hospital as Angela's father, following injuries.
He was thrilled at the visit, and that the Council was acknowledging his war time contribution, which included him being awarded the Legion d'honneur, France's highest order of merit, for his involvement in the liberation of France.
