Thousands of visitors a year are now making their way to south west Wales to discover the breathtaking Millennium Coastal Park. Everyone who comes to the award-winning park leaves with a lasting memory of its scale and beauty. In just over 10 years, the 22 kilometres of coastline along the Loughor estuary has been transformed into a unique array of tourist attractions, wildlife habitats and leisure facilities.
Millennium Coast Park occupies approximately 10 miles of coastline on the Burry Estuary. The park runs adjacent to the towns of Llanelli and Burry Port, the park offers superb views along its length of the Gower Peninsula.
The Gower was the first designated area of outstanding natural beauty in the UK.
The Coastal Park offers many unique features including a continuous traffic free cycle / footpath, the National Wetlands Centre for Wales, and a championship links golf course. Burry Port and Pembrey harbours plus the Millennium Quay and the Discovery Centre.
The Coastal Park attracts over one million visitors a year, which makes it one of the most popular visitor destinations in the UK, as well as centre for a host of outdoor pursuits.
The Coastal Park has won a number of national design and environmental awards, in 2004 it won the Amazing Space Helping Hand Award for the biggest transformation by a Lottery funded project.
